Among the teams that have indicated they will attend the session are Roush Racing, with Fords for drivers Greg Biffle, Matt Kenseth and Jeff Burton; Richard Childress Racing with a pair of Chevrolets for Kevin Harvick and Jeff Green; Dale Earnhardt, Inc. with Chevrolets for Kerry Earnhardt and defending Daytona 500 winner Michael Waltrip; Ray Evernham with Dodges for Casey Atwood, Bill Elliott and Jeremy Mayfield; and Petty Enterprises with Dodges for John Andretti and Kyle Petty.
Twenty-three teams tested 43 cars last week for three days, with Jimmie Johnson unofficially the fastest with a lap in just under 49 seconds in a Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet.
Hendrick teammate Jerry Nadeau is expected this week. Ward Burton’s Dodge was unofficially the fastest car in drafting practice.
"I'm excited to go to Daytona and start the year,” Jeff Burton said. “Daytona is the time when you get your mind back on the race track and away from the vacations, holidays and everything else that you did in the off season.
“Testing is hard work and can be tedious, and this year we have an extra day. However, I'm looking forward to the third day because we will be drafting, which is much more fun than running lap after lap by yourself."
Teams test from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET daily.
