Don’t be surprised to see Welliver-Jesel Motorsports revive its No. 34 car for a limited number of races in 2002 with Jason Schuler at the wheel.

The Buzz: Jan. 3, 2002

Schuler ran 13 NASCAR Busch Series races over the last two seasons with limited success. Initially he made 11 starts in 2000 for team owner Robbie Reiser in the races regular driver Matt Kenseth was unable to run in the No. 17 Chevrolet. Kenseth won four times in 20 starts, while Schuler posted no top-10 finishes.

Schuler went back to Midwest Late Model racing in 2001 but made two Busch Series starts. Welliver-Jesel’s No. 34 team, for which David Green drove until its sponsorship ended following the 2001 season, appeared with Schuler at a Talladega Superspeedway test session Wednesday in which the team’s first Dodge chassis made a limited number of runs before snow ended the day.
