On the first two days of the Winston Cup Series test session at Daytona, Geoffrey Bodine posted the fastest lap times for Ford. On the third day, his brother, Brett, was the fastest Ford.

Apparently, some of the other Ford teams didn't like the fact the brothers Bodine were going so fast. Some folks in the Ford camp allegedly approached the Bodines and asked them to slow down, ostensibly so they could lobby NASCAR for beneficial changes to their cars.
During Speedweeks activities, Geoffrey is driving the No. 09 Ford, owned by James Finch. His team politely declined the request -- Finch receives no financial help from Ford as other teams do.
Geoffrey won the Daytona 500 in 1986 when he was driving for Rick Hendrick Motorsports. Geoffrey has the fastest lap for Ford, from the first round of testing, at 182.186 mph around the 2.5-mile superspeedway
