First-year Winston Cup crew chief Patrick Donahue has the built-in safety net in 2001 of working for rookie team owner Ray Evernham's "rookie team." But that doesn't mean there aren't high expectations for Donahue, like Evernham a former Hendrick Motorsports employee, or his driver, 20-year-old Casey Atwood. Donahue broke into the crew chief's profession in 2000 working with drivers Jeff Gordon and Ricky Hendrick at Hendrick Motorsports' Busch Series program.
