New York native Robin Pemberton engineered with driver Rusty Wallace what was in many respects the best statistical performance of 2000 in the Winston Cup Series. Pemberton and Wallace led laps, won poles and races and appeared to be more dominant than their final place in the points standings showed. Pemberton, a noted high school sprinter who first worked at Petty Enterprises after moving south, has contended for Winston Cup titles with Roush Racing and is a noted race strategist.
