Chad Chaffin needs to bounce back in 2001, when he will compete in a full season of races in Team Rensi Motorsports' No. 25 Chevrolets. Chaffin, who has less than 40 career starts in the Busch Series, started 18 races with a season best finish of 11th at Richmond in the spring.
Chaffin, a former track champion at Nashville Speedway USA, took advantage of that local knowledge to lead his only race of the season at the Tennessee half-mile, for 64 laps. He drove the first half of the season for PRW Racing and car owner Tony Hall, but was released following the 19th race of the year after a stretch marked by DNFs and accidents.
Chaffin warmed up for his 2001 program with a Craftsman Truck Series race for Team Rensi at Texas but crashed while running in the top-20 mid-way through the event.
