Greg Biffle comes into the Busch Series off his second straight dominant year in the Craftsman Truck Series. The difference was Biffle won the 2000 CTS championship driving for Jack Roush, who will field his No. 60 Ford Tauruses in 2001. Biffle takes over the cars that were driven to five victories in 2000 by Mark Martin, who has dropped Busch Series competition from his schedule.
Biffle won his championship on the strength of a powerfully consistent five wins and 18 top-5 finishes in 24 starts. It followed up his nine-win year in 1999, when he was narrowly defeated for the title by Jack Sprague. In his three years with Roush, Biffle has learned how to effectively race.
Biffle, of Vancouver, Wash., won the 1998 CTS Rookie of the Year Award despite tearing up an inordinate amount of equipment. Biffle won the 1997 Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series Most Popular Driver Award. He dominated Tucson Raceway Park's "Winter Heat" series for Late Model stock cars in 1996-97 and 1997-98, where he grabbed the attention of TV commentator Benny Parsons, who tipped Roush to hire him.
