Kevin Grubb continued to reward the faith team owner Clarence Brewer Jr. placed in the 22-year-old by moving up in the Busch Series standings in 2000, to finish a career best 13th. Grubb started 31 races in his second full season and posted two top-5 and six top-10 finishes.
Grubb returns to the No. 37 Brewco Motorsports Chevrolets in 2001. Grubb particularly improved his qualifying performance last season, earning 11 starting spots inside the top-10 including season-high thirds at Las Vegas and Dover. Grubb finished a season best fifth at Atlanta and Richmond and led three times for a total of 31 laps.
Grubb was a season-high sixth in the driver point standings after race No. 10 at California, but ran into some inconsistency later in the season. Despite that, he only had four DNFs, which was an improvement over the previous year. Grubb began racing karts in 1993 and, along with his older brother Wayne, made his mark in family-run NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Late Model Stock Cars, as well as a limited number of starts in the Craftsman Truck Series and Busch Series.
