Lyndon Amick has shown promise, particularly in a limited schedule of races in 2000 for Winston Cup driver Ken Schrader in the Craftsman Truck Series and ARCA RE/MAX Series, where he scored a second place finish in the former and a win in the latter. Amick races his family team's No. 35 Chevrolet in the Busch Series, where he finished 28th on the strength of three top-10s in 29 races.
Amick was as high as 17th in the BS driver point standings following race No. 16 at Myrtle Beach, S.C., but the team led by crew chief Ricky Pearson struggled with 10 finishes of 35th or worse during the second half of the season. Amick had a best finish of ninth at Richmond in May and led two laps at Nazareth and two at Darlington.
In 2001, in addition to chasing sponsorship the team will attempt to replace Pearson while trying to improve its qualifying record, which resulted in the former Goody's Dash Series champion's failure to qualify for three events.
