Randy LaJoie is ready for a new beginning in 2001, with car owner Joe Nemechek's No. 7 Chevrolets after a frustrating two-year run with owner James Finch. LaJoie, the 1996-97 Busch Series champion, started all 32 races last season posting one win, four top-5 and nine top-10 finishes.
The highlight of LaJoie's season came at Nashville Speedway USA, where he came from the 28th starting position to earn his 13th series win. The rest of his season was interrupted by injuries, the first of which came soon after his Nashville triumph and in the same race at which he made his best start of the year, third, at Talladega.
LaJoie, whose son Cory began racing a Bandolero car over the off-season, is the all-time money won leader in the Busch Series. The 1985 Busch North Series champion scored 14 victories in that series and he has 38 career Winston Cup starts.
