 DRIVER BIOGRAPHY
 PERSONAL PROFILE
Spouse: None
Kids: None
Hometown: Stuart, Va.
Birthdate: October 25, 1981

Jon Wood was born into a family whose only business is racing, but he used that birthright coupled with natural talent to make an instant impact in 2001 with Roush Racing.

Wood’s grandfather, Glen Wood, with his brother Leonard formed what is today one of the most historic and longstanding teams in NASCAR Winston Cup racing, Wood Brothers Racing, which has been operating for more than 50 years.

Jon’s father, Eddie and his Uncle Len took over lead roles in the team’s management in the mid-1980s when Jon was four years old.

Jon began his racing career at the age of 12, in equipment that was a gift from former Winston Cup champion Dale Jarrett. Wood raced sprint karts in 1994-95. After 16 victories, he moved on to the WKA Champ Kart division in 1996-97 and earned 27 victories. He enjoyed great success by winning the 1996 WKA North Carolina Dirt Championship and the 1997 WKA National Asphalt Championship.

In 1998, Jon raced a Thunderbird in the Allison Legacy Series and brought home two victories as well as rookie of the year honors. He then moved on to NASCAR Late Model Stock Cars in 1999, winning for the first time in June 1999. He was also named 1999 rookie of the year at New River Valley Speedway in Coeburn, Va.

In 2000, Jon moved up to the USAR Hooters ProCup Series where he raced until he made the move into a Roush Racing early in the 2001 campaign, when the rookie drivers employed by Roush had trouble. Wood jumped into the No. 50 Eldon Ford in the ninth race of the season and stayed there the rest of the year.
