Birthdate: May 2, 1985

Keeping in step with his older brother Kurt, Kyle Busch has taken his talent to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series where he is quickly making his own name.

Growing in up in a racing family in Las Vegas, Kyle was exposed to the sport at a young age as he watched his father and his friends, and then his brother compete on the local circuits. What began as Saturday night family fun turned into a career opportunity.

Kyle watched his brother win the 1999 Featherlite Southwest Series, NASCAR Touring title then make his way into the NCTS. Kurt drove the same No. 99 truck for Jack Roush, finishing second in points and winning rookie of the year honors in the 2000 Craftsman Truck Series.

Kyle began competitive racing in 1998 at the age of 13 in the Legends Car division and finished in the top-10 in every race. The following year Kyle finished second in the Young Lions national point standings and earned the title of the Legends Car Rookie of the Year as well as the Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s Legends Cars champion. In 1999 Kyle won 12 consecutive races in the Legends Cars, only one year after he began racing.

In 2000 Kyle was renamed the Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s track champion in Legends Cars as well as the Nevada State Champion in the Legends Pro Division.

He won his first Grand American Modified race after just five races, finished first in his first Late Model start and finished fourth in the Legends Cars dirt half-mile point standing.

When Kyle got the call from Jack Roush to drive his No. 99 truck after Roush’s rookie drivers had trouble early in the 2001 Craftsman Truck Series season, he was first in the point standings in the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Late Model division at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He had an impressive record with 49 percent wins, 79 percent top-fives and 90 percent top-10s.
