Larry Gunselman began his racing career in high school, while maintaining honor student status and being a 4-year letterman in baseball, football, and wrestling. After high school, he worked at Boeing Aircraft Company for 15 years as a machinist to finance his own race team. In 1983 Larry won "Rookie of the Year" in the Super Stock Division at Spanaway (Wash.) Speedway. Larry also competed from 1983 to 1990 in Open Competition and Late Model Super stocks, finishing each year in the top-10 points chase.
Larry raced in the NASCAR Winston West Series on a limited basis with his own team from 1990 to 1995. He was awarded the NASCAR Winston West "Most Improved Driver' Award in 1994.
In 1996, Larry drove the #37 Race/Stuff Olsen Technology Ford, winning in just his third race. Larry was awarded the NASCAR Winston West "Most Popular Driver" Award while finishing 3rd in points.
In 1997, he finished fourth in the points chase while driving the #37 Ford.
Larry was one of only three NASCAR Winston West drivers to be invited to compete in both NASCAR Suzuka Thunder Special 100 races in Suzuka Japan against the best 25 drivers from the NASCAR Winston Cup, Busch Grand National, Craftsman Trucks, and Winston West.
Larry moved to Mooresville, North Carolina in 1998 and has raced in selected Winston Cup, Craftsman Truck, and Winston West races through 2000. He has driven in 7 Winston Cup races with a top finish of 15th, 4 Craftsman truck races, and 4 Winston West races.
In 2001, Larry will pilot the #63 Waterloo Tool Storage/MB Motorsports Ford Truck in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
