Third generation driver Ronnie Hornaday III hopes to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather, Ron Hornaday and father, Ron Hornaday Jr, as a NASCAR champion. He will compete in 2001 in No. 94 Chevrolets owned by his mother, Lindy Hornaday.
Hornaday III started one CTS race in 2000, finishing 23rd in the season finale at California Speedway. A five-race campaign in 1999 saw father and son start five events and the youngest member of the racing Hornaday family scored his best finish, 16th, at arguably the series' toughest layout -- Nazareth Speedway.
Since relocating to North Carolina Hornaday III has tried to stay sharp racing Late Model Stock Cars near his home. He has the influence of his father, a two-time NCTS champion who also won two Featherlite Southwest Series crowns; and his grandfather, who won a pair of Winston West Series titles in the 1960s.
