 PERSONAL PROFILE
Spouse: Joelle
Hometown: Templeton, CA
Birthdate: August 5, 1970

Former West Coast driver Rich Woodland, a winner in the Winston West Series who twice finished in the top-6 in points for the Late Model touring series, returns to the Craftsman Truck Series in 2001 in his own No. 6 Chevrolet. Woodland followed up a single start in 1999 with a four-race CTS schedule last season, but mechanical failures sidelined the team on three occasions, including the Daytona 250 in which Woodland still finished a career best 14th despite dropping out with 19 laps remaining.

Woodland, 30, of Templeton, Calif., who won a Winston West race in 1998 at Phoenix International Raceway, scored some of his best runs at Michigan International Speedway last season. He completed all but two laps at the two-mile Michigan oval, where Woodland finished 23rd. Woodland also has competed on a limited basis with the Automobile Racing Club of America's RE/MAX Series, with a best superspeedway finish of sixth at Michigan.

Woodland comes from a racing family. His uncle, Fred Woodland, fielded open-wheel cars for a number of drivers including Elmer George, father of Tony George, president of Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Woodland's father, Rich Sr., also owned racing teams and provided equipment for several top West Coast drivers, among them two-time Craftsman Truck Series champion Ron Hornaday. The younger Woodland is a business marketing graduate of California Polytechnic University at Pomona.
