Travis Kvapil (pronounced kwop-ill), who succeeds Andy Houston at the wheel of Addington Racing's No. 60 Chevrolet, was the early favorite to win the Craftsman Truck Series Rookie of the Year Award in 2001, if not challenge for the championship.
Kvapil has starred on the RE/MAX Challenge Series Late Model tour during the past two seasons. Both of his victories came at Pikes Peak International Raceway, a venue the Craftsman Truck Series visits annually. Kvapil counts 15 top-5 and 21 top-10 finishes in the Late Model cars during the 1999-2000 seasons and he was quick right from the start in testing Houston's former third place in the series equipment.
The Janesville, Wis., native finished 10th in RE/MAX Challenge standings in 2000 and fourth in 1999. He is the 1996 Late Model champion of Madison (Wis.) International Speedway and, not surprisingly, is a fan of the NFL's Green Bay Packers.
