 PERSONAL PROFILE
Spouse: Sherri
Kids: Tommy Jr., Danielle, Kandice
Hometown: Clayton, GA
Birthdate: September 18, 1959

In his 20+ years of racing, Tom Powers has enjoyed and participated in many forms of motor racings most exciting divisions. Starting in Hialeah in the early 1980s, Tom raced in three of Hialeah Speedways four feature divisions.

With the help of family and friends, Tom ventured into the United Stockcar Alliance series in the late 1980s. This series featured drivers from all over the Southeast racing at all of Florida's premier short tracks. Regular competitors in the USA Series such as Joe Nemecheck, Mike Cope and Dick Anderson are competing in racings top divisions today.

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Tom concentrated on his trade-building one of South Florida's most respected contracting business. In 1993 Tom and his family relocated to the mountains of Northeast Georgia and began a new electrical contracting firm.

The relocation to Georgia did dampen Tom's racing efforts, but only temporarily. Once the electrical business was firmly on its own, Tom soon opened his own speed shop serving local asphalt and dirt racers, and once again turned toward the track and the drivers seat.

With full support of his wife Sherri, his son Tommy Jr. his daughters Danielle and Candace, and the help of some new found friends, Tom Fielded the first Dodge Ram truck in the upstart PARTS Pro Truck Series. Tom raced allover the Southeast United States. During the 1997 and 1998 season Tom fielded his Dodge Ram for every event and finished both seasons with a top 15 point standings out of over one hundred trucks.

A bit past midway 1999 season Tom and his crew said farewell to the PARTS series and took a big step -- the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Tom fielded his truck in the 2000 Inaugural race at Gateway International raceway with a 28th place start and a 27th place finish.

2001 will be the breakout year for Powers Motorsports. The team is now equipped to field the #55 Dodge Ram truck in every event for 2001. The team has an experienced crew in place along with the capabilities to compete and win some races.
