With over 44 years of tradition, Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway has earned the reputation as "America's Hometown Track" and as a "Star Maker". South Boston was one of the founding tracks of what is today's NASCAR Busch Series. Its graduates include Ward Burton, Jeff Burton, Stacy Compton, Wayne and Kevin Grubb and NASCAR's only African American Grand National winner, the late Wendell Scott.

In the spring of 2000, an investment group headed by Joe Mattioli, acquired South Boston Speedway. Mattioli, with over 20 years of experience at his family's superspeedway, is intent upon maintaining the warmth, charm and exciting short track racing that South Boston is famous for, while at the same time providing fans, drivers and sponsors with the amenities and service they would expect at a Super Speedway. At South Boston today you will find everything from attendants at the restrooms to an arcade, swimming pool, closed circuit TV at the concessions stands and beautiful landscaping.
In 2001, Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway is presenting a full schedule of NASCAR Weekly Racing Series events, featuring its legendary Late Model Stock Division as well as seven national touring series including the NASCAR Goody's Dash Series, Gatorade All Pro Series, Featherlite Modifieds and Craftsman Truck Series.
Boasting NASCAR Touring graduates like Ward Burton, Jeff Burton, Elliott Sadler, Stacy Compton, and Kevin Grubb this "Super Short Track" in Southside Virginia is poised to launch careers for future NASCAR stars. Local favorites Timothy Peters, Nick Woodward, and Rodney Sawyers have all made moves to compete in other NASCAR Touring Series.
Location: From Highway 58 West take 360 East (toward Richmond). Track is two miles to the right. From 501 North to 58 East take Hwy 360 East. Track is two miles on right.
