With every year of production, the SVT Cobra continues to rewrite Mustang performance history, and 2004 is no exception. On the heels of the best-selling Mustang Cobra of all time (SVT produced nearly 13,500 Cobras for the '03 model year), the '04 Cobra bolsters its appeal in the marketplace as an unbeatable performance value with two new exterior paint colors (Screaming Yellow and Competition Orange) and a limited-edition (1,000 unit) Mystichrome Appearance Package. Of course, Cobra's 390-horsepower supercharged V8, six-speed manual transmission and independent rear suspension all remain standard. While some Mustang enthusiasts may find the '04 version desirable because it is the final SN-95-based Cobra to be built in Dearborn, MI, there's little doubt the SVT Cobra's main attraction is rooted in the fact that it remains the most powerful, highest-performing production Mustang that Ford has ever built.
